FUN FACTS ABOUT CONNECTICUT
Connecticut, an Algonquian word meaning ‘land of the long tidal river’ gain its statehood January 9, 1788, its motto reads- ‘he who transplanted still sustains’. In 1636, the English settlers arrived in Connecticut, settling in Hartford, Wethersfield and plantations of Windsor. Its also known as ‘the land of steady habits’ and ‘the nutmeg state,’ which is definitely not your culinary spice!

Connecticut was among the 13 original colonies and one of the six New England states. The state’s official flower is the mountain laurel, the official bird is the American robin, and the official tree is the white oak, not that it could kill an original vampire, but it definitely hid Connecticut’s royal charter, in a candlelit dispute in 1687, between sir Edmund Andros and captain Joseph Wadsworth, it then became a symbol of freedom.

Do you know the author of the first dictionary, Noah Webster lived in west Hartford; Harford being the capital of Connecticut and has remained so since 1875, you should know it’s illegal to walk on your hands in Hartford. In your visit, play golf and beware of Connecticut’s women golf team; the first women tournament was held in Waterbury, 1917 but just in case you lose, you had better not frown in public; it’s a $1 fine.

The nutmeg state was the first to pass an automobile law, so while you are on your visit, remember that the speed limit is only 12 miles per hour, and while cruising down the roads of Connecticut give yourself a PEZ treat, it is manufactured in the city of orange. In 1908, the first lollipop machine Connecticut for business in New Haven; you are in for a treat!

The food served in Connecticut are mouth-watering, devour them like a king with elegant silverware, Wallingford has a worldwide reputation for silverware production, who knows your home cutleries might be made in Wallingford.

Stop by Stamford if you are a fan of the WWF, it’s the headquarters of the world wrestling federation but if you are not, go for a swim in the Mill Pond Falls, its located in Newington, and it is the smallest natural waterfall in the united states.

If you have always loved silence, well its illegal for a beautician to hum or sing while working on a customer and then try not to admire your wife’s new look on a Sunday, you both don’t want to go all lovey-dovey on each other, you might not know this, but it’s illegal for a man to kiss his wife on a Sunday, crazy huh… well here is another, when ordering a hamburger lookout for the bouncing pickle, a pickle is not a pickle in ‘the nutmeg state’ if it does not bounce.

You should know that hamburgers, colored television and helicopter was first made in Connecticut, it’s a state of industrialization, and it awaits your presence.
