<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Making your booth stand out in a convention.</h2>



<p>When you are one of many booths at a convention, all pitching similar products and services, how do you stand out and attract guests to your booth? You entertain people and ensure they leave with a useful custom product with which they have a connection.</p>



<p>When <a href="https://www.webroot.com/us/en" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">WEBROOT</a>, a cybersecurity company offering antivirus solutions, were looking for a way to attract people to their booth, they saw our social media and said, &#8220;hey, that&#8217;s a great idea&#8221;. <br><br>Custom water bottles were just the way.</p>



<p>On this occasion, WEBROOT supplied their own bottles because they regularly attend conventions and use their own merchandise sourcing company. However, we can also obtain the water bottles on your behalf for painting. We can also arrange for your branding to be screen-printed on the bottles before the event.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading">Painting on stainless-steel water bottles</h2>



<p>The stainless-steel water bottles provide a non-porous surface, which causes airbrushed paint to move around. To solve this, we used paint pens, which dry quickly, are permanent, and the bottles can be washed without affecting the design. Paint pens also offer a solution when space is limited. Although we don&#8217;t need more space, there just isn&#8217;t space at all events for easels and compressors, which airbrush artists use.&nbsp;</p>



<p>Our artists for the convention were me (Pete), Regis, and Guillermo. We produced 550 custom water bottles,&nbsp;working 11 hours across three days. WEBROOT used these&nbsp;as corporate promotional gifts to build brand awareness.&nbsp;</p>



<h3 class="wp-block-heading">Customization while being entertained is a winning combo</h3>



<p>Guests were drawn to the WEBROOT booth by the entertainment value of unique artwork being created live. They were offered a selection of designs to choose from, and they decided what they would like their bottle to say. Requests range from their name, their company’s name, some even get their children’s name painted on. Most designs took an average of 5 minutes to paint.&nbsp;</p>



<p>While guests were waiting for their custom water bottles to be painted, the WEBROOT staff had time to inform guests about their products and services while collecting follow-up information. Guests then left with a very useful, personalized gift.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 2: We Pick the Right Production Method (Not Just the Easiest One)</strong></h2>



<p>Not every order should be hand-painted. Not every order should be printed. Part of our job is knowing the difference.</p>



<p><strong>Hand-Painted Airbrush</strong> is best for one-of-a-kind pieces, personalized names, small-to-mid runs, and statement items that need to feel individual. Each piece is painted by a professional AE artist. No two are identical, and that&#8217;s the point.</p>



<p><strong>Preprinted Merchandise</strong> is best for large-scale quantities, brand consistency, and budget efficiency. <p>Once agreements are signed and payment is confirmed, the order enters production scheduling. This is where things get precise.</p>



<p>For preprinted orders, we proof files, approve layouts, track vendor timelines, and inspect products on arrival.</p>



<p>For airbrush runs, we assign artists, build production windows, and schedule cure time. Paint has to be set. Rushing that step ruins the product.</p>



<p>We build buffers. We protect deadlines. Hope is not a logistics strategy.</p>

<h2 class="wp-block-heading"><strong>Step 4: Quality Control</strong></h2>



<p>Before anything ships, it gets reviewed. No exceptions.</p>



<p>Airbrush pieces are checked for spelling, placement, paint integrity, and full cure. Preprinted items are verified for color accuracy, placement, quantity, and damage.</p>



<p>We don&#8217;t receive boxes and forward them. If it leaves our hands, it&#8217;s been reviewed.</p>

<p>Today we will be discussing five of the biggest misconceptions about airbrush events.</p>
<h2>1. It’s graffiti!</h2>
<p>One of the absolute biggest myths about airbrush art is that it’s just graffiti. Graffiti is a movement that <a href="https://ed.ted.com/lessons/a-brief-history-of-graffiti-kelly-wall" target="_blank" rel="noopener noreferrer">started decades ago</a> and has evolved as time has gone on. It has been developed into current fashion and modern art, etc.</p>
<p>Airbrush artists can paint in the style of graffiti but airbrush uses a much more precise instrument.</p>
<p>Airbrush art doesn’t use aerosol cans of paint as graffiti does. It requires an airbrush, hence the name. The tool makes all the difference when comparing the two!</p>

<h2>2. Airbrush Events are messy!</h2>
<p>This misconception stems in some way from the last one. Airbrush art is not graffiti and our artists use an airbrush and our proprietary easel stations. This allows our stations to be tidy and neat.</p>
<p>Airbrush uses a very direct and clean approach actually very little paint is even used in airbrush art. Paint is not flying through the air. Airbrushed designs can be more fine-tuned then those you would make with aerosol. Plus there are lots of other benefits too.</p>
<p>You could have an airbrush event inside of a building as there are little to no fumes from the airbrush tool. The type of paint the artists use, dissipates quickly in the air if it doesn’t hit an item&#8217;s surface so there is no mess and no smell. In addition to this, the paints are non-toxic and water-based.</p>
<p>On top of that, Airbrush Events also carries liability insurance for any venues that may request it. We’ve had events in synagogues, Ritz Carlton and Disney properties and have never had any mess issues.</p>
<p>We are so confident in our artist’s training and precautions that we don’t use tarps or blankets on the floors, the damage would be on us, so we make sure there is absolutely no mess.</p>

<h2>3. The designs wash away</h2>
<p>Just because the paint used is water-based that doesn’t mean it’s temporary. All of the blends of paint we use stay very cleanly on the items to which they have been applied to.</p>
<p>Each airbrushed merchandise contains a special label with specialty care instructions. These instructions are very simple, they involve using a dry iron on the design to heat it up and to seal it even more permanently to the item that has been designed. If not done, the paint may fade slightly but certainly not wash away. In fact, your airbrushed merch will not bleed in the laundry.</p>
<p>Airbrush paint is a little like house paint, if you end up getting house paint on your pants that’s not coming out. So your designs are here to stay!</p>

<h2>4. It’ll take too long or be boring</h2>
<p>Our trained airbrush artists have a lot of additional experiences that are great for events. They specialize in making the process as fast and as entertaining as possible.</p>
<p>For most designs, it only takes 2-3 minutes to finish. It’s like watching a chef cook your meal in front of you. The benefit to this is that you can have the artists change the design on the fly, want blue instead of pink? Just ask and they can whip it up, right away.</p>
<p>5 minutes after being painted, they are already dry and ready to be worn.  Most people end up wearing them right at the event.</p>

<p>When the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce started planning their <a href="https://www.airbrushevents.com/interactive-trade-show-entertainment-that-drives-real-engagement/">tradeshow booth</a> a few years ago, they wanted something memorable that would keep people lined up at their booth and leave with a little piece of Myrtle Beach in their hands. So they came to us.</p>



<p>We worked with them to create an activation that drew attendees in and kept them engaged. Guests could choose a tote bag or a drawstring pack, printed with the Myrtle Beach website logo on one side and left blank on the other for our artists to customize live with one of five Myrtle Beach–themed designs.</p>



<p>The result? Lines wrapped halfway around the convention center, and their booth ended up winning 2nd place overall at the show.</p>
